What is Leadership Summit?

Leadership Summit is an annual, hybrid event focused on the development of Southwest Leaders. We invite all Leaders to register to tune in virtually, with a select group attending in person at the Wings Building on our Corporate Campus in Dallas. Participate in a live Q&A with Bob Jordan, develop a deeper understanding of the Leadership Competencies, learn from a panel of external companies, and hear an inspiring message from Greg McKeown, author of “Essentialism.”

Behaviors of Excellence

Excellence is one of Southwest's Values, but how do we know if we're on the path to achieve it? During the Leadership Summit session, we'll dive into the behaviors associated with the Value of Excellence: We do our best every day, we are not complacent, and we know what it takes to win.

QUEST FOR EXCELLENCE

Bob Jordan

Hear a heartfelt message from our fearless Leader, Bob Jordan. He'll remind us that our actions and interactions with the People we serve have the potential to be meaningful, powerful experiences, and that ultimately Leadership Excellence is ours to own.

WE DO OUR BEST EVERY DAY

Leadership Competencies

Click the image to learn more about the Southwest Competencies.

Competencies are a clearly defined, specific, and measurable set of behaviors that help Employees successfully perform their job. While the six Core Competencies are the foundation for the Southwest Competency model, there are four additional competencies for Southwest Leaders. Competencies for Leaders highlight behaviors for effectively leading in an evolving and dynamic world.

Throughout Leadership Summit, we'll watch a video series highlighting various Leaders who display Excellence through the Leader Competencies: Develop People, Build Great Teams, Think Strategically, and Set a Clear Direction. Use their stories as inspiration to create your own!

WE ARE NOT COMPLACENT

Lindsey Lang

As a Company with a resilient reputation, it can be easy to rest on our laurels and assume we know it all. Of course, many know what Herb would say about that. To achieve Excellence, we cannot become complacent. You interact with businesses each and every day that shine in one way or another, and we can learn from our friends at other companies.

Join Vice President People Lindsey Lang as she welcomes Leaders from three admired companies to share insights and ideas through a benchmarking panel discussion. We'll learn more about brand loyalty from H-E-B, hospitality from Sewell, and performance and innovation from Toyota.

WE KNOW WHAT IT TAKES TO WIN

Greg McKeown

As Leaders, you're experiencing things constantly thrown your way, but how do we measure what's essential? Do we know what it actually takes to win? We're honored for Greg McKeown, author of the best-selling book, "Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less" to join us and share more on this topic.

Essentialism is about designing and taking control of your life to create the largest impact. The amount of energy, when directed purposefully, can bring you much closer to your goal. Know the right things you must do, reject everything else, and focus your time and energy to create the biggest impact where it matters. Intentionally focus on directing your decisions and time to increase efficiency and personal wellbeing.
